What are your thoughts about tumblr’s choice of banning pro ED/self-harm blogs?

I think it’s kinda good because sometimes it’s really triggering but I also think it’s bad because it raises awareness kinda. Idk :S

I..think it’ll be a good thing. They’re not banning blogs that express the pain of eating disorders or self-harm, they’re blogging the “pro” ones. I think it will be safer. Nobody needs to be encouraged to develop an eating disorder or self-harm.

I think it’s a bit excessive, though I wouldn’t mind a trigger warning. Sometimes browsing the #bipolar tag shows more than I wanted to see.

I personally think it sucks for the people that find tumblr a safe place to express themselves, and try and recover from whatever the problem

Its ridiculous. They’re just cutting off some peoples only outlet. People shouldn’t be punished like this, they should be helped.

I think it’s a bit excessive, though maybe make it mandatory for there to be a TRIGGERING clause on a blog or something. o.O

i would say glad about the ED ones, but since i’ve had no experience with self-harm, i cannot comment on that

It’s about time. I think it’s detrimental to the recovery process. Dwelling in it won’t help, going out and getting proper help will.

I don’t agree with banning ANY type of blog, but I can say that I think Tumblr is better without them.

They should ban the nasty, graphic pictures of self-injuries. But they should keep the blogs that save lives.

People will always find other outlets. I guess it’s good to have less triggering stuff…but still. It’s kind of pointless, what they did.

I’m glad. I see way too many, way too often. All they’re doing is promoting EDs and self harm. Not helping anyone at all.
